Beneath the vast, vaulted sky
of stars scattered in splendor
Shepherds tend their sheep
In pastures green and still.

Broken solitude of an Angel's voice,
"Don't be afraid!
I bring you Good News of Great Joy!
Born this day a Savior!"

In starry cathedral breaking forth,
Heavenly hosts sing,
"Glory to God in the highest heaven
and on earth—peace and goodwill."

A baby born pierces the heart
of shepherds first to see
This Lamb of God,
who takes away
the sin of the World!
