Grace Upon Grace

More Musings on... The Trinity, Perfect in Love

Have you ever thought about God, perfect in relationship, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, perfect in love and joy! The Father who proclaims, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased!” The Son who reveals the Father—“for when you have seen me you have seen the Father”—and who promises to give the Holy Spirit to everyone who asks. The Holy Spirit who discloses and reveals the Son. Perfect in love!

Have you ever thought about Jesus “who for the joy set before him endured the cross”? What joy wasn’t already his? In perfect union with the Father and Spirit what glory, what majesty, what honor didn’t already belong to him from before all ages?

So what joy was set before Jesus that He would endure the cross? You are that joy! For the certain hope of spending all eternity with you, showering you with grace upon grace and love upon love in the ages to come, for this Jesus endured the cross—that He might have you!
