More Musings on... "I am Clay"

I am clay, and so are you.
Such fragile pottery
when dropped
shatters into pieces.
I’ve lived a shattered life;
and so have you.
I cannot fix you.
I cannot fix myself.

Yet I know the Potter
Who doesn’t just take the broken shards
to put us back together
He begins with a whole new lump
and beckons us to live
LIFE on the Potter’s wheel
Not being fashioned
into what we desire
but into what He desires
A simple vessel of fired clay
to hold His broken body,
to hold His shed blood.

In the Potter’s hands,
I remain clay; and so do you.
Made anew to hold the treasure.
of the risen Christ
who has come within to dwell.

Potter
2 Corinthians 4:7-10 (RSV) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
